01The story
Alec Scheerer and Dan Odell are friends and lifelong athletes who came up through collegiate and elite-level sport. For years they watched the same thing happen around them. Talented athletes and motivated people worked hard, followed their programs and still fell short. The effort was there. The programming was the problem.
Too many coaches were handing out copy-and-paste templates: the same workouts and the same protocols for every client, whatever their body, history or goals. It was easy for the coach, and it kept failing the people who needed results.
Alec and Dan had both been on the wrong end of it. Each hit the ceiling of generic programming in his own career, and each saw what changed once his training was individualized and grounded in evidence.
So they built a company where every program starts with a real assessment instead of an assumption. They look at each person’s movement patterns, strengths and limitations, then build around what they find. That holds for a competitive athlete chasing a personal record and for someone trying to get their health back.
One principle sits under all of it: this work isn’t about the coach, it’s about the client. Alec and Dan built American Ascension to help athletes and everyday clients get results that last.
